About

One of my most favorite things in the whole world is chocolate. But hold on, this blog is about my upcoming trip to Alaska with my wonderful, talented, kind, and verrrrry funny friend, Wendy. My joke/observation is that people here in Los Angeles meet friends and lovers in basically only 2 different forums: in acting classes, and in AA. We met in acting class and we’ve been great friends for, what, almost 20 years?! and have seen each other thru a LOT of mayhem and goofiness and veganism and life shit and the birth of my 2 kids (we love gross medical stuff.)

4 1/2 years ago, Wendy, in a pique of selfishness, moved to Portland to go to one of the best nursing schools in the country. She graduated at the top of her class (Gross medical stuff came in handy!) and now she’s moving to Alaska for 3 years to be a fancy pants pediatric nurse in the tundra because, as another friend once said of her, “Wendy is applying for sainthood.”

Who could pass up a drive to Alaska from Portland? With one of your most best friends in the world? Helping her to schlep as much stuff as she can possibly stuff into her car, leaving only enough room for my carryon bag and whatever wine we can buy along the way? Ok I sort of lost my way in those last couple of sentences, but anyhoo, my lovely husband will be with my lovely children for the 8 wackadelic days I drive north north north thru the spectacular western landscapes of the US and Canada, cold, colder coldest…into Alaska with Wendy. Who also really loves chocolate.

Aaaaaactually, was thinking we might have to do away with your carry-on to make room for extra wine.

  2. Wendy says:

…or, conversely, use it as a sort of mobile wine cellar.

Just buy a new pair of undies each day! Keep those pockets available for chocolate. Which I*know* you’ll be bringing back for me. And no one else – just me. And you thought Wendy was selfish???

YAY for Wendy! And Alaska is spectacular. An adventurous, brave, wonderful choice.

I know, right? Wendy is my hero, in so many ways. Even tho, at this very moment, she’s drinking chamomile tea, which makes me question her sanity. That stuff blows.

Frankly, Marshal and I think that you would do better to bring a bottle of bourbon or vodka. It would last longer than any of the wine and take up less space! Besides, wine and the tundra?? Now vodka or aquavite and the tundra, that works!
    Have a great time ladies.
p.s. If Wendy gets to be a saint, can I have a piece of her shroud?

Funny you should say that, Pam, cuz just tonight on our unbelievably long drive day (check out the blog) we were saying that we could really use a quick shot of whiskey or something. You know, scotch, breakfast of my people. Aquavite seems right on tho. Love to you and Marshal!
